PC Fugate (Minor) >> A moustachio'd Victorian Police Constable just trying to go about his work...
This film saw me step up from playing lead roles in small films - to playing small roles in large films. A brilliant experience and a nice window into the world I've been trying to move into... Not to mention a great excuse to grow a moustache.
Hysteria is a Victorian comedy drama about the accidental invention of the vibrator. Yes, really.
I was thrilled to have scored the role and even though PC Fugate may only have around 30 seconds of screen time, it represents a long awaited move and will sit nicely on my CV.
It was an excellent experience to hold my own with a top cast that included Maggie Gyllenhall, Hugh Dancy, Jonathan Pryce, Rupert Everett, Sheridan Smith and Ashley Jensen. The read-through was slightly daunting and I just tried to keep myself to myself and know my place in the heirachy...
But when I came to rehearse the punch scene with Maggie Gyllenhaal and Hugh Dancy, I felt much more at home. We were just actors rehearsing a scene...
On set everyone was a pleasure to work and perform with and I had a really great three days. A few more years will (with some luck) see the balance even out until I'm playing good supporting roles in quality, major worldwide releases.
Touch wood....
