Jonathan Rhodes

The short film 'Big Society' was given a firm nod by the jury of the 'Best of British' award at Encounters Film Festival in Bristol - the largest Short Film Festival in the UK.

Playing in competition at the prestigious festival was an honour all in itself; director Nick Scott and myself attended for the duration and saw some superb short films from around the world. Seeing our film in such a rich programme made me very proud.

We were thrilled that 'Big Society' made an impression on audiences; and blown away when the jury decided to mention the film before announcing the receipient of the 'Best of British' award at the packed ceremony.

Before presenting 'Jam Today' by Simon Ellis with the award for Best British Film, Abi Berry and Jes Benstock announced that the jury wanted to give "an Honourable Mention to a film for its delicious contemporary British satire and great central performance. That film is Big Society."
